Video and audio projection in loop
Mix of found footage and personal recordings
Variable dimensions
Process-based project still in development.
In a two-channel video montage that blends personal archives with
found footage, we experience a flux and a suspended atmosphere
that aims to continually blend personal and collective perspectives,
creating a continuous system of rebounds.
The construction of femininity and its social performativity unfolds
here through various images of struggle and incorporation, through
muses and imitated gestures, silent cries, and wounded animals. The
fire of a pyre becomes the flame of a cigarette, an object adopted in the
feminist struggle of the last century as a symbol of emancipation, but
recapitalized by the tobacco industry as a way to broaden its customer
base.
The girl smoking thus becomes an image with multiple, even
conflicting, meanings, highlighting how even the emancipatory
gesture often ends in cruel reabsorption by society and capital, a
landscape that relegates the feminine to a role of melancholic, delicate,
and sentimental resilience.
